Join Bill Peach Journeys to discover the remarkable Eyre Peninsula. Making our way to Port Lincoln, we hand-feed kangaroos at Glen Forest and enjoy a unique afternoon tea with the koalas at Mikkira Homestead. Celebrated for its world-famous seafood, we will join in a seafood Masterclass Dinner and indulge in the Eyre Peninsula’s freshest catches, matched perfectly with local wines of course! Enjoy an oyster cruise on Coffin Bay and a scenic cruise of Boston Bay learning about the fascinating seafood industry. Simply magnificent!

Day 1: Arrive Adelaide

Adelaide - clear day in Adelaide city - luxury short breaks South AustraliaUpon arrival in Adelaide, transfer to the Mayfair Hotel, a luxurious 5-star boutique hotel. Meet your fellow travellers tonight at the welcome dinner hosted by your Journey Director at Treasury 1860, set inside the historic Adelaide Treasury Building.

Day 2: Adelaide - Whyalla

Whyalla - Port Lowly Lighthouse - luxury short breaks South AustraliaDeparting Adelaide, we fly to Whyalla. This morning we visit the heritage-listed Pt Lowly Lighthouse and lighthouse keepers’ cottages. Heading northeast, drive to Fitzgerald Bay which offers stunning views of the blue gulf waters framed by picturesque hills and the Southern Flinders Ranges. Continue on to Whyalla to enjoy a walk on the Circular Jetty, a unique design chosen by the community. This evening we will view the Steelworks and Jetty at night from Hummock Hill Lookout.

Day 3: Whyalla

Today we see behind the scenes of more than 100 years of Australian iron and steel-making history at the Liberty GFG Steelworks. Approximately 1.2 million tonnes of raw steel is produced each year for the construction and rail transport industries.

Visit the Whyalla Maritime Museum, home of the HMAS Whyalla, the first ship built in the Whyalla Shipyards in 1941. The museum also houses a treasured collection of memorabilia relating to World War II and BHP shipbuilding history plus a shark and natural history exhibition. Following a visit to the Whyalla Wetlands, step into yesteryear’s schoolroom, blacksmith shop and workers’ cottage at the Mount Laura Homestead Museum.

Day 4: Whyalla - Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln - feeding the kangaroos at Glen Forest Tourist Park - luxury short breaks South AustraliaWe head south today visiting picturesque Arno Bay before arriving at Glen Forest Animal Park to hand-feed kangaroos. We drive on to the family-owned and operated Lincoln Estate Wines for a tasting before arriving at Port Lincoln. Here we will visit three local icons – sculptures of Makybe Diva, the Tuna Poller and Matthew Flinders’ seafaring cat, Trim.

Day 5: Port Lincoln

Eyre Peninsula - Fresh seafood alfresco - luxury short breaks South AustraliaThis morning we embark on a scenic Boston Bay cruise learning about the aquaculture fishing in the region before enjoying the freshest seafood lunch you’ve ever had! Later, we enjoy an up-close koala experience at Mikkira Homestead.

Day 6: Port Lincoln

Begin the day by touring Coffin Bay before heading into its sublime azure waters for a cruise of its world-renowned oyster farms. Following a seafood lunch, we explore the pristine Coffin Bay National Park and spectacular coastline. Tonight, partake in a Masterclass Dinner.

Day 7: Port Lincoln - Adelaide

Port Lincoln - seafood lunch on the wharf with Australian wine - luxury short breaks South AustraliaToday learn about the vibrant seafood industries of Port Lincoln and discover the rich history of The Tacoma, the first Tuna Poling Boat in South Australia before enjoying a lunch of seafood exclusive to this region. We then visit Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, an experiential museum based around fishing and early boat building history. Fly to Adelaide this afternoon allowing enough time to prepare for this evening’s farewell dinner.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going

These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 1 kilometre unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
