SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
Bill Peach Journeys guests will be among the first in the world to see the newly launched ground-breaking sound, light and drone show at Uluru, Wintjiri Wiru. Renowned for our long tradition of “surprises along the way”, we are excited to announce that all guests booked on this year’s Red Centre and Field of Light Sojourn will experience the breathtaking Wintjiri Wiru AT NO EXTRA COST!
Wintjiri Wiru, which in the local Pitjantjatjara language means ‘beautiful view out to the horizon’ is a breathtaking sound and light show, which brings to life the ancient Mala story of the Anangu people, a story passed on for thousands of generations. With the use of ground-breaking technology, choreographed drones, lasers and projections illuminate the night sky. Wintjiri Wiru will light up Australia’s Central Desert shining on the spinifex and mulga, connecting the earth and sky to offer an expansive experience of light and sound. Transfer from Alice Springs Airport to the Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters, the perfect base for our upcoming touring of Alice and her surrounds. Your welcome dinner this evening will be a memorable outback experience as we enjoy an award-winning gourmet BBQ with stories ranging from local ecology, culture and astronomy at Earth Sanctuary.
Overnight: Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters
Today we tour the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges, extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sunburnt hues on display. We will begin with a visit to Simpsons Gap featuring the towering cliffs of Simpsons Range followed by the stunning Standley Chasm. See the mineral Ochre Pits and enjoy lunch at Ormiston Gorge viewing its towering red walls and waterhole. This afternoon, we visit Ellery Creek Big Hole, an internationally significant geological site before arriving at Flynn Memorial, the resting place for the ashes of the Reverend John Flynn, founder of the Flying Doctor Service and the Australian Inland Mission.
Overnight: Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters
After breakfast, we visit the Telegraph Station, site of the original Repeater Station, which was for many years the sole reason for the existence of a handful of people in this remote area. It was here that a supposed spring was found in the dry riverbed.
After lunch, we fly to the Red Centre and transfer to Walpa Gorge where we will walk between the mighty conglomerate domes that make up Kata Tjuta and learn how they have evolved over millions of years. Following dinner, we depart to view the incredible sound and light show at Uluru, Wintjiri Wiru which brings to life the ancient Mala story of the Anangu people, a story passed on for thousands of generations. With the use of ground-breaking technology, choreographed drones, lasers and projections illuminate the night sky. Launched in May 2023, it is the first time an experience of this magnitude has been performed anywhere in the world.
Overnight: Sails in the Desert
This morning we will fully appreciate the unsurpassed splendour of Central Australia from an incredible perspective. Marvel as we fly above Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Lake Amadeus and Kings Canyon for yet another unforgettable Red Centre experience. Upon landing at Kings Creek Station, journey through magnificent desert oaks, cruise over rolling red sand dunes and take in the vast views and roaming wildlife while learning all about outback life on a station in Central Australia. We fly back and enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight.
Overnight: Sails in the Desert
This morning we travel towards Uluru, its vast shape rising from the sand dunes as the early dawn light shines over this amazing monolith. Embrace the culture, geology and environment during an unforgettable base walk tour.
Enjoy lunch and an afternoon at leisure before departing for our incredible farewell dinner. Tonight, we view the incredible art installation, Field of Light before enjoying the iconic Sounds of Silence dinner. In keeping with the desert’s vast scale, this is Munro’s largest work to date; more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres bloom as darkness falls under a sky brilliant with stars.
Overnight: Sails in the Desert
Saying a fond farewell to new friends, this spectacular ‘Red Centre’ journey concludes and you will be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight home.
